Liverade combines the necessary combination of organic (chelated) minerals, amino acids, vitamins, and herbs to strengthen and aid in cell regeneration, especially in the liver. During hot, humid months, grass toxins build up to higher levels in the body, causing problems in the central nervous system. Liverade supports and strengthens liver function to effectively clear out these toxins, combatting heat stress and facial eczema.

Liver stress in dairy cows

There are many daily stresses on a cow’s liver. Such stresses often originate naturally in a cow’s diet. They can come from the grass, conserved feeds such as silage, and even high-energy grain (meal) feeds. Many of these feeds will contain toxins such as ergot toxins, mycotoxins, aflatoxins, and sporisdesmin toxin (the facial eczema toxin). All of these toxins can place a heavy strain on the liver, even when good treatment systems are in place, and in extreme cases the end result can be total liver failure.

Protect and strengthen your herd’s liver performance with the premium mineral ingredients combined in Liverade, Agvance’s powerful, proven liver tonic.

Liverade is sold in 1KG pots.

What the research shows

  • A New Zealand facial eczema study found that feeding metal amino acid complexed trace minerals reduced signs of liver damage and improved liver-related blood markers compared with untreated cows, showing how trace mineral support can help cows cope with sporidesmin challenge. (DOI: 10.1016/j.livsci.2009.10.017)
  • A review of methyl donor nutrition in dairy cows reported that methionine, choline, folate, vitamin B12 and betaine are involved in hepatic phosphatidylcholine synthesis, triglyceride export and antioxidant pathways, supporting their role in liver function and resilience during periods of metabolic strain. (DOI: 10.3168/jds.2019-17319)
  • A controlled dairy cow study found that regular Fusarium mycotoxin contamination increased plasma liver transaminases and impaired digestibility and milk quality, while a mycotoxin-deactivating product counteracted most of those negative effects, showing how nutritional support can help reduce toxin-related liver stress. (DOI: 10.3168/jds.2020-18197)
Limits

These studies assess trace mineral strategies for facial eczema risk, methyl donor nutrition linked with hepatic function, and feed-additive approaches to mycotoxin challenge in dairy cows, not Liverade itself or its exact blend, dose, drench format, or on-farm programme.

What was tested

Research relevant to Liverade, including a New Zealand dairy study on complexed trace minerals during facial eczema risk, a review of methyl donor nutrition and liver metabolism in dairy cows, and a controlled study on dairy cows exposed to Fusarium mycotoxins with or without a mycotoxin-deactivating product.

Markers of liver damage and liver-related blood chemistry under facial eczema challenge, nutrient pathways linked with hepatic fat export and antioxidant status, and outcomes such as liver transaminases, digestibility, milk quality and immune-related responses under mycotoxin exposure.

  • The evidence supports the broader use of trace minerals, methyl donors and toxin-management nutrition to help reduce liver strain in dairy cows, rather than proving the performance of Liverade as a branded product on its own.
  • Results can vary with the type and level of toxin exposure, stage of lactation, diet composition, mineral status, cow health, timing of supplementation, and the exact ingredient forms and inclusion rates used.
