Coolaid

Cows need Coolaid over the summer to help reduce heat stress in ruminants

COOLAID TO COME TO YOUR AID FOR HEAT STRESS

A combination of ingredients that have proven to be effective in combatting the effects of environmental and ergot (grass toxin) generated heat stress in cows.

This formulation is particularly targeted at the New Zealand heat stress conditions we experience every summer. Stock grazing under New Zealand conditions are not just subject to high environmental temperatures, but also high humidity, an added factor that can make New Zealand conditions worse is the build-up of natural toxins in heat-stressed pastures.

Live yeast – Proven to enhance rumen function, particularly during heat stress conditions – “Response of lactating cows to live yeast supplementation during summer” – Salvati et al

Seaweed extract – Long recognized for its ability to mitigate the effects of heat.

Chromium Propionate – Chromium is well-proven in mitigating the symptoms of environmental heat stress in dairy cattle. “Effects of temperature–humidity index and chromium supplementation on antioxidant capacity”…..Zhang et al

Toxin Binder – Coolaid incorporates a registered toxin binder that is proven in combatting the effects of ergot toxins such as ergovaline. During times of high temperature, the body loses heat dilation of blood vessels, naturally losing heat by increasing blood flow to body extremities. The grass-based toxin ergovaline effectively hampers this natural process, as ergovaline is a toxin that acts to restrict blood flow.

Coolaid – A combination of ingredients that have proven to be effective in combatting the effects of environmental heat stress in cows. This formulation is particularly targeted at New Zealand conditions, which include very high humidity and the types of grasses fed.
