Agvance has a range of cost-effective, high-quality calcium/phosphorus mineral supplements to suit your farming system. Developed with the perfect ratio, your mob will be sure to get the correct levels of calcium and phosphorus to drive a strong transition and beyond.
Why is calcium important? The majority of the body’s calcium is stored in the cow’s bones. She’ll need to mobilise this calcium easily when it comes to colostrum and milk production. Calcium is also crucial in nerve and muscle function, minimisation of metabolic disease and overall health at transition time.
Why is phosphorus important? Phosphorus is essential to support and maintain overall health (including claw health), immunity, growth, production, fertility, and rumen health. By ensuring your cows are receiving the correct levels of phosphorus, you’re improving their feed intake, milk production, and bone health.
Calcium and phosphorus are stored in the cow’s skeleton. We’re not able to measure this, so the best way to pack them with enough calcium and phosphorus for transition and early lactation is to look at how much is in the feed and go from there. This is especially important when feeding fodder beet over the winter.
Autumn is the time to start preloading cows with essential calcium and phosphorus. By doing this, we minimise metabolic disease in spring and set them up for maximum performance and optimal fertility.
